20th January 2005 - A Life on the Edge

It has been a while since last update, and the CALM book is almost publicly available. It is in the final proofing round and is expected to be ready for production within a week; I will of course make sure to keep you posted…

During the process of proof reading as well as preparing the launch of the latest technology in TARGIT I spent some time reading "A Life on the Edge" by B.S. Christiansen, a well known Danish elite soldier and anti-terror expert. This book is a highly recommendable input to accessing human potential as B.S. voices his opinions on the human potential that can be accessed through a thorough personal insight, recognition and honesty about strengths as well as weaknesses and limitations. In particular I enjoyed his thoughts of optimization of human potential which, according to B.S, is limited by the energy we can allocate to a given task. If we constantly carry old disputes, insecurity or other negative thoughts with us, part of our energy will be consumed with this and will limit our potential. Therefore B.S. suggests that we clear our "backyard" by closing the old unproductive relations, and thereby become able to dedicate our full energy and focus to the task we have at hand. Furthermore, the story of a kid of no impressive physical stature that turns into one of the best trained commandos in NATO is in my opinion very inspiring.

Finally, I made an update to this site by changing the Curriculum page to a Projects page. My reason is that I would like to keep this website progressing along with myself, and since the Ph.D. is done I feel that the website would be more interesting and current by reflecting which experiments and developments I am working with at this time.

I wish you all a Happy 2005, and stay tuned…! ;-)

The official homepage of Morten Middelfart and CALM. Computer Aided Leadership and Management (CALM) is an inspirational speculation on where mankind may be heading in the quest to leverage computer potentials for helping individuals and organizations to self-actualize their symbiotic potentials.

The time frame for this well-informed and provocative speculation on relatively near-term and more distant potentials is clearly within mankind's grasp. Dr. Middelfart argues persuasively that within the next one or two decades, symbiotic links with "intelligent machines" will surely leverage people's potentials, far beyond all human progress to date!

Altogether, a tour de force of well-informed contemporary insights and maturely reasoned speculation; affording possible stepping stones and a creative springboard for what may lie ahead. As has been said: "Man's reach should exceed his grasp; else what's a heaven for?”
